What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer luxury mattresses under three brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.
Considerations: Best Budget Inflatable Mattress
The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than numerous hybrid designs. These thinner layers of foam integrated with the Euro-top’s fiber fill soak up some motion, decreasing how much movement is felt across the surface of the bed. Sleepers might still experience some motion transfer when their partner changes position or gets up during the night due to the bed mattress’s two layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva soaks up slightly more motion than the High-end Company and Firm alternatives.
While all of the Saatva firmness choices have pressure-relieving potential, the quantity of pressure relief that a private experiences on the mattress will differ based partially on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most push relief on the Luxurious Soft variation of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and assistance from the Firm version.
Note: Saatva recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the differences below. We prepare to evaluate the new version quickly and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists primarily of latex, which is inherently durable. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which might prove practical if you’re not exactly sure what you choose or if your requirements change in time. This is not a traditionally soft mattress, however it offers a flexible cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness. Given its natural sturdiness, the Zenhaven must work well for individuals who weigh more than 200 pounds.
These mattresses were likewise evaluated in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam mattresses and the finest innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I’ve interviewed scores of professionals in the mattress market and in products science; visited lots of bed mattress stores, showrooms, and factories; and pored over the fine print on requirements, guarantees, and return policies.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. However we do know that the business uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (instead of fiberglass or chemicals) and just organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress business, Saatva promotes such additionals as zoned layers for “ideal spine support”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and durable foams and coils.
