While all of the Saatva firmness choices have pressure-relieving capacity, the amount of pressure relief that a private experiences on the mattress will differ based partly on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most press relief on the Luxurious Soft variation of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and support from the Firm version.
Note: Saatva just recently upgraded the Zenhaven, altering the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions listed below. We plan to test the brand-new version quickly and will update this guide with our impressions.

The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which might prove valuable if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs alter over time. This is not a traditionally cushy mattress, however it provides a flexible cushion, good edge support, and a subtle springiness.

For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for a number of weeks in my own home. These mattresses were also evaluated in our group tests performed for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the finest innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel author for sleep, I’ve talked to scores of specialists in the bed mattress market and in materials science; gone to lots of bed mattress factories, shops, and display rooms; and pored over the small print on requirements, service warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley examined the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for numerous weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environment-friendly” brand names. But we do understand that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (instead of fiberglass or chemicals) and just organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva promotes such bonus as zoned layers for “ideal spine support”; we’re less impressed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and resilient foams and coils.
